Country Club Modernizes their Floors with a Waterproofing System

The Troon Country Club is more than a golf course — the members are passionate life enthusiasts and connoisseurs of travel, food, wine, wellness, and, of course, golf. The Club culture is built on a strong sense of camaraderie that is both meaningful and significant. A culture that is cultivated amongst one another to provide a comfortable environment for Members to know that there is always a game to join in, or a group to sit with on a patio night.
The Challenge
The Troon Country Club had multiple areas with different systems, multiple pours of concrete and finished looks. They wanted a consistent, modern look that elevated the look of the property and wanted the finished look to be stained concrete. They called upon Douglas Fredrikson Architects, who is well-known for their sleek design and sustainability. The firm has done multiple Country Clubs and was a perfect fit for the job.
Douglas Fredrikson Architect Firm reached out to Westcoat Architectural Representative Matt Kadin to find a solution for the elevated patio, the cracks in the existing concrete, and the ability to stain the concrete with the existing substrate.
The Solution with Waterproofing
Matt Kadin met with the Architect at the job to assess the damage and decided against staining the concrete. The deciding factor against staining was due to the multiple pours, the stain could react differently in each area giving a less desirable consistent look. Based on this info the best recommendation was MACoat™ and Texture-Crete® with the same custom finish. MACoat was the obvious waterproofing choice because it can be easily applied over existing systems, saving on time and labor.
To make sure the job was done correctly, Matt gave the Architect three qualified applicators to bid on the job. The firm went with Complete Roofing and Waterproofing to install the systems. They first addressed the concrete issues, by patching the cracks and doing a skim coat of TC-1 and applied the systems.
