When the Lakehouse Hotel and Resort was being remodeled, Pacifica Enterprises – a San Diego based developer – worked with our San Diego rep, Marc Di Zinno, to ensure Westcoat was specified on the job. After a thorough job walk and deck inspection, Marc pointed out that the plywood decks were flat, which meant water could easily puddle and cause problems later. The current floating deck system had to be completely removed and waterproofed using a combination of Westcoat systems for the different substrates.
Pacifica Enterprises took in all the recommendations for the decking details and knew they needed a top installer for the project. Marc brought in Garcias Brothers Waterproofing to install the ALX and MACoat systems. Because of the flat decks the contractor had to first set rip strips and new plywood to prep and slope the surfaces. This ensures any water that might end up on the deck will move away from the building.
After all the decking details such as proper slope, thresholds, face mounting railing were all taken into account the walkways and decks of the five buildings were waterproofed successfully. Over 27,000 square feet of Westcoat ALX and MACoat waterproofing systems were installed with a subtle skip trowel texture and two coats of our protective SC-10 Acrylic Topcoat.
Despite having to work around several other trades during the renovation, the project was run smoothly by Pacifica Enterprises as the decking system was top priority.
