Bellamar Point Loma

Situated in one of the most sought-after areas of San Diego, Bellamar Point Loma offers living spaces that are second-to-none. Featuring 16 luxury flats, many of which have incredible views of the gorgeous San Diego Bay and the surrounding locations of downtown San Diego, Bellamar Point Loma is poised to become the premier housing destination for both San Diego natives and transplants.

Planning for the Job

The architect for this job was Toni Cutri at the firm Martinez-Cutri. With many years working side-by-side with our Architectural Representative Marc Di Zinno, Tony knew exactly what needed to be done to make sure the client was pleased with their waterproofing needs. Martinez recommended the ALX Plywood Waterproofing system for the balconies and the MACoat Waterproofing system for the common areas.

Waterproofing Bellamar

When it came time to begin the waterproofing process, Steven from WICR (a trusted Westcoat applicator with a long track record of successful installations) was hired to install the Westcoat system and noticed that the drain could be a potential issue and brought up the challenges to our Architectural Representative Marc Di Zinno who worked with the General Contractor and Tony Cutri to find the right solution. As always, WICR stepped up to the plate and did not disappoint. We could describe the end results; however, we think this video will do the job better than any description we could write (Look For Westcoat ALX Plywood Waterproofing System on Balconies (0:32) and MACoat Concrete Waterproofing System on Common Areas (0:49).

How the Deck Drain was Resolved

During a routine inspection, however, it was found that the deck drains were not performing as expected. Working directly with the general contractor and Tony Cutri, Marc Di Zinno determined that the best course of action was to replace the existing drains. Westcoat fabricated and helped retrofit new drains incorporating a flange which would work with the existing drain system. The solution worked and the client was extremely pleased with the result.
