Ballast Point New Brewery and Restaurant Floor

Ballast Point Brewing Company®, a pioneer in the craft beer movement in San Diego with a 20-plus-year history of supporting the art of homebrewing and developing high-quality, innovative, award-winning beer, opened a new brewpub in Chicago’s Fulton Market District in May of 2018.

Before opening their doors, Ballast Point’s General Contractor reached out to Westcoat for a quote, due to the fact, that we had done the floors for several of their other locations. Matt Ranzau, the Regional Sales Manager for the East Coast met with the contractor and recommended Floor Coatings Pro to do the work.

Ballast Point Brewery Needs

Ballast Point needed flooring options for the front of the house and the back of the house. The front of the house was 7,000 square feet and since the concrete was new, they opted for a Grind and Seal with our Fast Stain color.

For the back of the house (2,000 sq ft), they needed a product that was durable, skid and chemical resistant. Our Temper-Crete broadcast system with EC-101 Polyaspartic 100% Solids topcoat was the perfect solution.

Westcoat’s Temper-Crete™ Broadcast System is a monolithic, flowable, urethane cement that can be installed with limited downtime. The System has an excellent impact, chemical, and heat resistant qualities. The Temper-Crete™ Broadcast System features an integral colored urethane cement base with decorative aggregate broadcast and polyaspartic topcoat. It offers a variety of decorative finish options and is designed for areas with heavy foot and moderate wheel traffic.

Westcoat’s Fast Stain enhances the color of concrete floors quickly and easily. It is environmentally friendly, solvent soluble, deep-penetrating powdered dye. For use on interior concrete, Fast Stain dries to the touch in seconds when mixed with acetone and offers a quick and easy installation process. Fast Stain can be used as a primary coloring system and is perfect for polished concrete or grind and stain systems.
